Franklin, Tennessee, June 10, 2013 – With the release of Australian-based author Brian Edgar’s new book, Seedbed Publishing crosses another publishing milestone. God is Friendship: A Theology of Spirituality, Community, and Society, will be Seedbed’s first title to employ a state-of-the art “print local” technology for international book distribution.

Seedbed’s Director of Publishing, Andrew Miller, said of the new strategy, “Seedbed’s print local strategy is chief among the revolutionary advancements of the digital era. We can now maintain a single print file in our US-based host manufacturing center, Ann Arbor, Michigan-based Edwards Brothers Malloy, which will be accessible for our local printing sites around the world.” Miller added, “Print local insures immediate availability and minimum shipping expense in regions that were previously much less accessible for distribution.”

Seedbed’s print local network presently operates with plants in the UK, Australia, and Singapore. India and Brazil will soon be coming online, with others slated in the future. International orders will be processed online through the Seedbed website with the printing and fulfillment directed to the most appropriate print site based on shipping cost and delivery logistics.

From its launch in January 2012, Seedbed has been building a state-of-the art twenty-first-century publishing enterprise.  “Christianity is surging across the globe. We are rapidly reaching critical mass on audiences and constituencies which must be furnished with theologically sound biblical resources. It is untenable to expect a US-based supply chain to efficiently distribute worldwide,” Miller said.

Seedbed authors are applauding this approach.  Brian Edgar, Seedbed’s first international author, said, “I was thrilled when I learned that my book could be printed and shipped from Australia. This will undoubtedly encourage potential Seedbed authors from other global contexts as well.”

Asbury Theological Seminary President, Dr. Timothy C. Tennent, remarked, “We are pleased to see Seedbed position itself to serve the global church. We hope this sends a signal that we are moving beyond Christendom’s model of ‘exporting the West to the rest.’  It will be exciting to see an infusion of fresh resourcing for the church coming from the majority world where the church is thriving.”

Seedbed will engage the print local strategy with its first title in June of this year.

Edwards Brothers Malloy is a market-leading book manufacturer based in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Established in 1893, EBM is considered one of the oldest and largest book manufactures in the United  States. They have established themselves at the forefront of the digital printing revolution with seven digitally equipped domestic printing plants and an expanding Global Print Alliance.

Seedbed, the publishing initiative of Asbury Theological Seminary, sows the whole gospel into the whole world, uniting voices around a shared vision and publishing resources that awaken the Wesleyan movement for the twenty-first-century church.
