WHAT IS THIS? Wake-Up Call is a daily encouragement to shake off the slumber of our busy lives and turn our eyes toward Jesus. Each morning our community gathers around a Scripture, a reflection, a prayer, and a few short questions, inviting us to reorient our lives around the love of Jesus that transforms our hearts, homes, churches, and cities.

  1. My first wake up call. Yeaaaah!!! My pastor gave me this info about Seedbed. So, I joined. I woke about 12:30 this morning. Saw email my pastor sent to me. I asked him for the info about Seedbed. It’s now 3:00 and I’m writing to you.
Praise the Lord. “Anointing fall on me”
Thank you Jesus …..Anoint me. Heal me.
    Blessings to Seedbed.

  2. Since moving to the new format, my email has been blocking the Wake-up Call, except for the Sunday walk through the Psalms.
Something is triggering a content block by the email provider (Yahoo in this case).
Have any other readers experienced similar issues?

  3. The Honest to Goodness Anointing

Honesty never deceives. It never hides in darkness. It always receives light and humbly submits to and aligns with reality “because no lie comes from the truth.” (1 John 2:21)

Dishonesty dances around truth and distorts it under the cover of darkness, but never fully embraces it. Dishonesty dips into truth and uses twisted parts of it as tools to strengthen deception.

Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. (John 14:26) Surrendering your heart and life to be continually anointed by His presence and power always leads to truth. (1 John 2:20) To walk in the truth (3 John 1:3-4) fully surrender to “Christ in you,” (Colossians 1:27) and let Him help you to deny yourself, (Matthew 16:24) constantly lead you by His Spirit, (Romans 8:14) and keep you overflowing with “the mind of Christ.” (1 Corinthians 2:16)

An amazing thing will happen if you’ll consistently live a Christ-centered, fully surrendered life. “You do not need anyone to teach you. But as His anointing teaches you about all things and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit—just as it has taught you, remain in Him.” (1 John 2:27)

    True Christianity
    Is always Christ-centered
    And fully surrendered
    To the risen Jesus
    And to His anointing.

“The Christian ideal has not been tried and found wanting. It has been found difficult; and left untried.” ―G.K. Chesterton

  4. I love, love and need the WUC! I read today’s WUC on the website, because it did not appear in my inbox as usual. This has happened on and off several times over the past month. Please make sure there’s not a glitch somewhere on your end. THANK YOU!

  5. Who is the judge of what is anointed and what is deception? I have experienced many people, especially in the Pentecostal movement, that say they have the anointing. And they use it. They use it to say that God told them this or that. And when people around them believe they are anointed, they will sometimes follow that person’s advice. It’s a mess.
My wife and her father both believe they are anointed. My wife follows her father like he is Jesus. Justified divorce because I stood between them by nature of our marriage. He supposedly is anointed. And for those who simply say that it’s a lie because the word of God wouldn’t agree with divorce under that condition, I can tell you that anybody that wants something badly enough will use the holy Spirit concept to say that it overrides whatever gets in the way of what they want.
Basically it just becomes a blank check. Do I believe that God’s spirit or the holy Spirit and exists… Sure.
Do I believe that people are actually in a position to know whether it’s the holy Spirit or their own intentions, I don’t think so.

    1. I’m with you, Jeff. Except that there is a real anointing that gets perverted. Because the term anointing gets so misconstrued in some traditions I react against it. But I suspect I’m missing a real work of God that isn’t like man’s use of the term.

I’ve come to learn the same perversion applies to other words like grace, mercy, judgement. Perhaps it’s time for me to apply to “anointing” what I’ve learned in those areas.
