…deep inner conviction about what is true…
I say make sure you believe what is true. It starts with what’s physically in front of you and around you. Make sure you’re not having some dream. That’s a good start. Then have other people around you that also have an accurate description of what really is.
I seen too many people that use the holy Spirit idea of new revelation for influence and self-importance.
Dear JD. I have been an Arden follower of the wake up call for a number of years. And, I will continue to use the wake up call in my morning devotional time. That said, I must share with you a concern that I and some of my fellow followers here in Florida share. My friend, you’re getting a little too long winded for us. Once you finish your devotion, I can visualize you watching the clock and filling up the time to complete a 20 to 21 minute devotional. I love him at the end and I love singing with you. But I’ve started cutting out your comments after your devotion until the hymn. In short, you are babbling too much. I continue to be a follower of the wake up call and I continue to donate. But my friend, I wish you would cut out some of your babbling.
Yikes! I love the “babbling”. JD, I think you are a Holy Spirit filled insightful Wordsmith and I love it. But, yes, I have trouble getting to work on time. Too much to do in the morning. But my husband and I don’t get out of bed before listening to the day’s wake up call. Then the race is on!
I have been following the Wake up Call for a couple of years now. I have to say I also like the comments following the devotions. I take notes on comments that strike deep or that puts in words something I identify with but couldn’t seem to express. My only frustration is that the comments are not in print – so I have to stop the podcast and go back so I can write it in my notebook. Thank you, JD, for your faithful study of God’s Word and your sharing of it with us. Thank you also to the ones who comment here. I have gleaned much insight and encouragement from reading others’ responses.
To all the commenters, thank you for adding another dimension to the already weighty Wake-Up Call. I enjoy the comments almost as much as I enjoy listening to Pastor J.D.
To you who think J.D. says too much, I say you have options.
For the longest, actually years, I only read The Wake-Up Call because Pastor J. D. speaks slowly. I never listened past the first couple os sentences because of his very “measured” cadence. Then a member of my band suggested I place the playback speed to 1.25. Eureka! Absolutely nothing is lost, and I get to enjoy all the thoughts of this precious teacher. I am so sad at all I have missed over the years.
As my mentor once said of another wonderful teacher, Pastor J. D. speaks from the “overflow”.
So to you who aren’t edified by the extra teaching, just read the printed lesson. Or, you can speed up the playback a little, or you can stop at around the 10 minute mark on the podcast..wherever he concludes his prayer.
But please don’t take away the “overflow” from the rest of us. It means so much. Blessings on you all in your faithful walk with The Savior.

Thank you, Steve, for compiling this list of reminders. I will certainly incorporate them in my daily prayer time.
Nancy. It shows me that I have a long way still to grow!
That list is a great measuring stick for examining one’s self!!! Thanks for sharing.
Melissa: It’s a hard measuring stick to go by but always challenges me to continue seeking and surrendering to Jesus.
Yes, great list….thank you, Steve!

I haven’t already said it. I mean it. I will use it.
Thanks, Steve!
Thank you for the encouragement, Carole!
JD,
I don’t want to miss the after comments. Often I hear something there that speaks to me more than the main text. Thanks for being you.
Steve, wonderful list. Thanks
JD – I appreciate your comments after the Prayer 🙏
