WHAT IS THIS? Wake-Up Call is a daily encouragement to shake off the slumber of our busy lives and turn our eyes toward Jesus. Each morning our community gathers around a Scripture, a reflection, a prayer, and a few short questions, inviting us to reorient our lives around the love of Jesus that transforms our hearts, homes, churches, and cities.

  1. Blessings and Good Easter Monday Morning J.D,

Thank you for this beautiful reflection on 1 John 1:1-4. Your phrase “He is risen indeed just doesn’t do it justice” resonated deeply with me. I’ve often struggled to express the magnitude of what the resurrection truly means – it’s beyond our human vocabulary, beyond our comprehension.

I love how you captured John’s sense of wonder – still trying to process what his eyes had seen, his ears had heard, and his hands had touched. The apostle’s testimony carries the weight of authentic experience, not theological abstraction. As you said, “When a human being passes through death and comes out on the other side even more alive than before, we have an indescribable situation.”

To answer your journal prompt: The eyewitness foundation of our faith makes all the difference. While personal spiritual experiences are precious gifts, they can fluctuate with our emotions and circumstances. But the testimony of those who walked with Jesus, who touched His resurrected body, who gave their lives for what they witnessed – this anchors my faith during seasons of doubt. Their willingness to die for what they saw tells me this was no mass delusion or elaborate conspiracy.

“You ask me how I know he lives? John. I believe John.” – That line will stay with me today as a simple yet profound confession of faith.

Thank you for these daily Wake-Up Calls that consistently point us to Jesus.

And what an ending! Let it all go! Sorry not sorry!🤣🤣🤣🤣

  2. See and Hear What John Saw and Heard

The early Christ followers proclaimed what they had seen and heard. (1 John 1:3 & Acts 4:20) That was the key to their success. They had personally seen and heard Jesus. They hadn’t just heard about Him.

Today multitudes have heard about Jesus but aren’t personally experiencing and hearing Him as their absolute Lord, King, and Master throughout each day. Instead of listening to and beholding the risen Jesus we try to understand Him by listening to someone analyze and explain him week after week. That’s the difference between the supernatural power of the first Christians and the religious programming that we settle for today. We need to persistently surrender to “the unprecedented category of reality” called “Christ in you, the hope of glory.”

I know Jesus lives because I hear Him and behold Him moment by moment. He leads me by His Spirit (Romans 8:14), keeps me aware of His presence, and transforms me from within. (Romans 12:2) I can’t help but speak the things I see and hear from the living Jesus.

  3. Today’s Wake Up Call —J.D., the Word and singing brought a smile to my face and filled my heart!
🎶Up from the grave He arose!🎶
Also, I must add how Holy Spirit used the “Jesus the Stranger” Lenten series to awaken my heart and mind to bring forth a deeply and more meaningful 40 Days of Lent, Passion Week and Resurrection Sunday celebration. Thanks Seedbed Team! All glory to God!

  4. Lent and Easter was glorious but oh so good to have you back, JD. HALLELUJAH, CHRIST IS RISEN, JESUS LIVES!

  5. Welcome back JD! I am excited to be able to walk through 1st John with you & all of my Wake-Up Call family. I have missed the singing! Singing with you is definitely an exercise. I am still struggling with health issues that make it a bit more difficult to sing out. Singing with you is an exercise physically, as well as spiritually. Singing these hymns puts a song in my heart for all the day. The hymns encourage me to keep my focus on Christ alone.

  6. Amen! You are back! How did you pull out that last note?? Amen, it was beautiful. Thank you for your witness. I believe John too.

  7. Speaking of hymnals…we put the ” Our Great Redeemer’s praise” in our church pews. It’s so nice to see all the pretty new books there!

  8. Yay J D!!! We are thrilled you are back and for this new study of John. The Kenneth Collins “Jesus The Stranger” was really deep and I loved where it took my faith. Loved Catherine Guerrero! I think it prepared us to receive this new study. Love you and thank you for this great ministry. Thankful to be a part of this!!
