The Resurrection Life: Dead to Sin, Alive to Love!
Glory to God in the highest, who awakens us not just to forgiveness but to the fullness of His Resurrection Life!
Thank you, J.D. Walt, for faithfully sowing another Spirit-ignited Wake-Up Call.
Today’s message reframed the battle:
The Cross didn’t merely erase the record of my sins—it destroyed sin’s reign over my life!
The Empty Tomb didn’t just defeat death—it unleashed resurrection love into every moment of my existence!
You challenged us today to consider: are we truly dead to sin?
And the Spirit stirred an even deeper reflection in my heart:
If I truly belong to Christ, why would I ever live as though the grave still holds me?
Today, I confess openly and humbly:
I still wrestle with patience toward myself. Oh my, do I ever!
I still long for deeper stillness with God. Day in and day out.
I still fall short in loving others with Christ’s full-hearted love. Every Moment, Every Day!
And yes, the battle with lust and pride still flickers at the edges. Trying desperately to capture my heart.
But praise be to Jesus—there is victory!
By His blood, I am not a slave to the past.
By His resurrection, I am not chained to old patterns.
By faith, I stand today and boldly declare:
I am dead to sin.
I am alive to love.
I am alive to the glory of God in Christ Jesus!
Today’s reflection calls us to no longer ask merely, “How can I avoid sin?” but rather:
“How can I unleash love wherever the old temptations once lived?”
This is not wishful thinking—this is Resurrection reality.
Question for us all:
When old temptations whisper, will we answer from the grave—or will we answer from the resurrection power of Jesus Christ alive within us?
Thank you, J.D., for calling us higher—to live, to love, and to rise with Him every single day!
And so today, with every breath of my heart, I proclaim again:
Glory to God in the highest, who awakens us not just to forgiveness but to new life filled with His love!
Thank You, Jesus, for this message today—for shaking our hearts and reminding us that we are truly dead to sin and alive to love through Your resurrection power.
Today, I confess openly: I am still battling for deeper patience with myself.
I long to be more still with God.
I see how often I have fallen short in loving others with the fullness of Christ’s heart.
And yes, I fight the lingering shadows of lust.
But by the blood of Jesus Christ—there is victory!
By faith, I proclaim the truth:
I am dead to sin.
I am alive to God.
And the more I walk with Jesus by my side, the more sin loses its false attraction, and the more my heart burns with the profound love of Jesus that sets captives free.
You remind us, J.D., that the true post-Easter life isn’t passive forgiveness—it’s active resurrection!
It’s waking up not asking, “Can I avoid sin?” but declaring, “By the Spirit’s fire, I will love!”
Yes, by the blood of the Lamb, we can and we will!
I’m dead to sin.
It is reality.
But I must love more!
With Jesus by my side, sin will lose its attraction, and I will be filled with the profound love of Jesus.
There is power in the blood!

Jeff, I have been starting my morning with JD’s Wake-up Call for several years now. His particular way of sharing God’s word really speaks to me. Since Lent, I have found myself looking forward to your commentary just as much as the wake-up call message. Thank you for the combination of wisdom and vulnerability you bring to the table. It is a blessing to me. -Karen
Here are a declaration and a prayer about “taking on the supernatural nature of Jesus Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit so that we can live a new life” that I wrote this morning before I came to today’s “Wake-Up Call.”
God became flesh and lived among people. Now Jesus Christ, the eternal God-man, has nail holes in his hands and feet and a spear hole in His side. As I behold Him shinning radiantly in my heart I can only say, with awe, adoration, faith, gratitude, and surrender: “My Lord and My God.” (John 1:1-14, John 20:24-28, 2 Corinthians 4:6)
A Bible-Based Prayer for Direct and Permanent Holy Spirit Intervention in and through my Life
Lord, make me aware of Spirit-taught words. (1 Corinthians 2:13) Help me hear what the Spirit is saying (Revelation 2:7) and be unceasingly led by the Spirit, not by my self-driven desires and feelings. (Galatians 5:19-21) Help me be good fertile ground (Mark 4:1-20) where the fruit (Galatians 5:22-23) and the gifts (1 Corinthians 12:1-11) of the Spirit flourish in abundance. God, the Holy Spirit, (2 Corinthians 3:17) sent to me by God the Father, (John 14:26) I ask You in the name of Jesus, the God-man, (John 1:14) that You have Your way in and through me. I surrender my all to You.

Good morning fellow sowers! I absolutely loved today’s entry JD!
“A Christian’s love is personal, passionate devotion to Jesus Christ.” Oswald Chambers
After listening to today’s Seedbed entry, and listening to JD sing “Love Divine, all Loves Excelling” by Charles Wesley, I was compelled to write the words of that hymn in my journal. So much heart, love, soul, depth in the words.
Thank you JD for your steady faithfulness to those of us in the field bringing beautiful, hard, loving truths through God’s Word to us daily! You are loved and appreciated!

Oops. I accidently repeated the declaration about Jesus the God-man. Maybe God the Holy Spirit had me do that for emphasis.
