WHAT IS THIS? Wake-Up Call is a daily encouragement to shake off the slumber of our busy lives and turn our eyes toward Jesus. Each morning our community gathers around a Scripture, a reflection, a prayer, and a few short questions, inviting us to reorient our lives around the love of Jesus that transforms our hearts, homes, churches, and cities.

  1. For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son…whosoever believes in Him should not perish but should have everlasting life.

Maybe it’s a matter of how we love. Confusing love with lust. Confusing love with pleasure. Confusing love as something we get to make us happy.

Pornography is just an example of where our natural desires are used against us. It mostly affects men because we tend to be more of the aggressor to look for a mate. What are the main problems is that we subsidize it and pay for it. If we stop paying for it it would be less of an incentive for people to do it. I would also consider what power has over me. Consider that watching it is kind of like giving power to the person that made it. For example there are plenty of women that want to be worshiped for their bodies… We need to stop worshiping that because it causes them to be rewarded for it.
I say that we actually need to stop worshiping women and lots of other ways too. While the Bible talks about the woman is being a helper, in our modern era it’s not so much the case. Instead men just follow their natural tendency to mate, and women participate and use it against men in the end.

  2. Christ-followers are called to be distinctive from whatever society and country we live in. Let God the Holy Spirit empower and disciple you to discipline your desires so that they no longer conform to the world around you but are transformed (Romans 12:2) by His mercy, forgiveness, and grace and by the purity of His presence.

    Self-focused desires
    Will draw us away
    From what God requires
    And trap us in pride.
    (1 John 2:16-17)

    When sin is denied
    And self-justified
    It’s not qualified
    For God’s mercy.
    If you won’t confide
    The wrong you have done
    You’ll be unwilling
    To truly receive
    The great forgiveness
    And deliverance
    That God has supplied
    Through Christ crucified.
    (1 John 1:9)

Forgive and you will be forgiven. (Luke 6:37) To forgive someone 70 X 7 times is supernatural. (Matthew 18:21-22) We need to see more miracles like that! Let “Christ in you” empower you to be that kind of miracle.

  3. I am interested in a band but everytime I check out that website, there is no way to indicate an interest in joining a band.
Is there a way to form a band with others who are in a neurodiverse marriage?

  4. Yesterday and today take me back to the beginning of my walk with God. 1 John 2:12-15 was a confirmation of my growth in the Lord. Dear children…, fathers…, young men…. I hoped to become wise as a father. Today’s song has been a favorite since childhood. I can still remember my childhood song leader bellowing out Love lifted me….. The Wake-Up Call always challenges me and inspires me to sow seeds wherever I go.

  5. J.D. you are not Alone and I too have been affected by the power of the Love of God through other Godly Men who Loved me in my Muck. They didn’t judge me or try to constantly give me the “Here’s How you Overcome this _________ Struggle.” But rather Listened, Understood, and Told me that The Lord Still Loves me and so do they. I am a recovering Porn Addict for over 3 years now and I am now seeking to Extend the same Grace God has Given me to Other Men Who Just Need To Be Loved! Thank you for this Reassurance about approaching Santification this way, Through Each Other, rather than Try Harder. I would love to participate in a WorkShop regarding this Practice. Blessings to you. I’ll see you on the Field.

  6. I am interested in discipleship bands. I’ve been in 12 Step programs for 44 years and yes healing comes when I’m honest with another human being.
