THAT THEY MAY HAVE LIFE

Opening Prayer

Almighty and most merciful Father, we have erred and strayed from thy ways like lost sheep, we have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts, we have offended against thy holy laws. We have left undone those things which we ought to have done, and there is no health in us.

But Thou, O Lord, have mercy upon us miserable offenders; spare Thou them O God, which confess their faults; restore Thou them that are penitent, according to thy promises declared unto mankind in Christ Jesus our Lord. And grant, O most merciful Father, for his sake, that we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life, to the glory of thy holy Name. Amen. BCP 1552

TEXT

John 10:7-10 TNIV

Therefore Jesus said again, “Very truly I tell you, I am the gate for the sheep. All who have come before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep have not listened to them. I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. They will come in and go out, and find pasture. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”

Closing Prayer

This is the day the Lord has made;
Let us rejoice and be glad in it.

Open for me the gates of righteousness;
I will enter them;
I will offer thanks to the Lord,
“This is the gate of the Lord”,
he who is righteous may enter.
I will give thanks to you,
For you answered me
And have become my salvation.

This is the day the Lord has made;
Let us rejoice and be glad in it.

The stone which the builders rejected
Has become the chief cornerstone.
This is the Lord’s doing,
And it is marvelous in our eyes.
On this day the Lord has acted;
We will rejoice and be glad in it.

This is the day the Lord has made;
Let us rejoice and be glad in it.
