The Second Half of the Gospel: The Ten Transformational Stops

LISTEN NOW!

August 9, 2021

Philippians 1:3-6 (NIV)

I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

CONSIDER THIS

One of the very first things we did when we started Seedbed back in 2012 was to post a short video where I gave a short teaching on the second half of the gospel.

Some of you will have seen it, but most have not. For today’s Daily Text I would like to ask you to watch it. It clocks in at 5:30 without the outtakes. It is the most succinct presentation of the second half of the gospel I can offer. And I promise you will be inspired.

THE PRAYER

Father, thank you for creating me in the image of your Son, Jesus Christ. Thank you for your faithfulness to your transformational work in my life. You will bring it to completion. Come Holy Spirit and lead me to full participation in your work for my good and God’s glory. In Jesus’ name, amen.

THE QUESTION

How does the video presentation increase or enhance your understanding of the gospel of Jesus Christ? How does it encourage you in a next step?

WHAT IS THIS? Wake-Up Call is a daily encouragement to shake off the slumber of our busy lives and turn our eyes toward Jesus. Each morning our community gathers around a Scripture, a reflection, a prayer, and a few short questions, inviting us to reorient our lives around the love of Jesus that transforms our hearts, homes, churches, and cities.

  1. Thank you for this history of the creation of Seedbed. This knowledge about the spiritual state of America shows the enormity of the missional task before us and the need of a new wine skin to accomplish it. I’ve purchased the Seedbed published book “From The Steeple To The Street “ by Travis Collins and am currently reading it. I’m hoping to initiate a Fresh Expression of the church in order to partner with my local congregation.

  2. In the aftermath of being broken by God because my Holy Discontent was no longer manageable. It was time to fully understand what it means to live my life as a Christian of the Methodist/Wesleyan persuasion. I learned way more than I was expecting to learn. After spending my life believing that I was a Christian of the Methodist persuasion, I am currently dechurched and running an antique mall. The current church landscape, including my longtime local church does not provide me an obvious next step. One of the things I learned was that John Wesley had personally debunked the myth that if I kept doing all the right things, including church, one day I would have enough faith.

  3. J.D. Walt please accept the following in the spirit in which this is given…..Agape Love

“We are becoming too learned (learn-ed) trying to be profound and deep to let go and be children again in spirit.
Awakening, we get there heart first, not head first.”
