All the world’s programming about effective Christian witness can’t compete with believers who have warm, thawed hearts, and all the world’s programming about effective Christian witness can’t thaw frozen hearts that sit like a cold stone on an unbending pew, rock-hard, Sunday after Sunday.
Following Jesus’ model of mentoring indicated in John 6:5-6 and elsewhere, guide your core group and help them to figure out how we should do this or that. Focus both on visible leadership skills and internal spiritual growth, because it’s not enough to provide skill training and then say, “Go lead,” without also discipling peoples’ souls.
Markets are complex. While they provide great value, there is good reason for caution. As Christians, I believe we have a responsibility to embrace this complexity, understanding with both our head and heart.
