As youth ministers, when we do something that works, it is usually not an accident. Great ministry takes thoughtful foresight. This month as you walk in ministry with your students, parents and volunteers, I encourage you to look up with an eye towards summer missions.
In the end you want one story about your church, and so that means you have to move away from the other stories. Jesus wasn’t afraid to redirect the conversation in order to guard the narrative because he knew that his mission was that important. We need to follow suit.
While God’s mission remains unchanged, how we go about participating in His mission has to respond to these changing contexts. Jim Ramsay shares five trends global missions is taking to address changes in world contexts.
Let me also remind us that the Wesleyan movement is a global reality, well beyond United Methodism, comprising many movements and denominations and tens of millions of people. This is an, “If your heart is as our heart, give us your hand,” invitation; a call for the historically orthodox Wesleyans of the World to join in covenant relationship. Be clear, this is neither a call for schism or structure but for solidarity in our shared and treasured way of faith and mission.
