Y’all want this party started right?

Acts 1:4

After his suffering, he presented himself to them and gave many convincing proofs that he was alive. He appeared to them over a period of forty days and spoke about the kingdom of God. Acts 1:3.

CONSIDER THIS. . .

Isn’t it amazing that we know  for the next forty days after his resurrection Jesus got back to discipling his disciples. Luke tells us he taught them about the Kingdom of God.

Here on the Daily Text I thought it would be fitting to spend this season between Easter and Pentecost (50 days) with Jesus and his teaching on the Kingdom of God. And what better place to focus than his Kingdom Manifesto, a.k.a. The Sermon on the Mount. (Matthew 5-7)

Without a doubt, this is the most important teaching in the history of the world. To help us dig in deeper, I am going to bring John Wesley into the conversation via his Thirteen (count em— 13) sermons on the Sermon on the Mount.

It just so happens that Seedbed recently published these sermons into a historic (short) volume. It is a treasure trove of a book I would like to commend to you. Get a copy now and if you use the Discount Code DAILYTEXT you will get 25% off (for the next 50 days).

We are switching gears, moving from 40 days of fasting to 50 days of feasting. It is going to be rich.  Please join me here every day and consider inviting your friends and colleagues to join as well.

Sowing Extravagantly the Extravagance of Easter– with you,

J.D. Walt for the Daily Text Team.

WHAT IS THIS? Wake-Up Call is a daily encouragement to shake off the slumber of our busy lives and turn our eyes toward Jesus. Each morning our community gathers around a Scripture, a reflection, a prayer, and a few short questions, inviting us to reorient our lives around the love of Jesus that transforms our hearts, homes, churches, and cities.
