The Gift of Awareness Becoming Attention

This is what fuels all spiritual striving: the deep-seated, distorted belief that we must do something to generate Jesus’s awareness of us and to win his attention to us.
Often times engaging spiritual formation means trying to master a subject when the goal is to be mastered by God.
Jesus wants to plant in me the desire of his heart for my heart, as well as grant their fulfillment.

The same Holy Spirit who inspired the Scriptures makes them the means of grace whereby we are transformed into the deep interior likeness of Jesus.
