In this Seven Minute Seminary, Dr. Sandra Richter answers the common question about Jesus’s relationship to the Yahweh, the God of the Old Testament. Is Jesus loving and full of grace, while the other vengeful and prone to violence? Rather than being a repudiation of the old covenant and its revelation of God, we learn that in the Old Testament, salvation was always by grace through faith, and covenant faithfulness on Israel’s part was expressed through obedience. Judgment and redemption always meet in the perfect love and justice of God, in whose story we find ourselves.
